Call for applications

HITO, turismo creativo en los Pirineos, proposes to set up a network of artists residencies, on each side of the Pyrenees, which will be the starting point of several trans-pyrenean discovery routes and the creation of a "culture découverte" label to highlight the cultural, natural, economical, environmental and human heritage by means of original and unique artistic propositions. This network will lean on the support of committed local actors, attached to the pyrenees identity and willing to develop new forms of cultural tourism, encompassing preservation of the environment and quality human relationships.

This project is open to candidates from all fields of artistic expression (performing arts, visual arts and transdisciplinarity) developing an approach in relation with the human, social, economical and environmental context they encounter. Their propositions must coincide with the living environment of the hosting creation sites and meet the general requirements of the Hito project.

This programme is open to artists over 18, residing in France or Spain. Artists living in Spain apply for French-side locations and vice versa. Speaking the hosting country’s language or English is strongly recommended. For some specific locations (indicated in the call for applications), speaking the hosting country’s language is mandatory.


The deadline for applications is set to July the 24th, 2010, at midnight (Paris time)

The application process is done in 2 steps :

1. fill in the online application form here
2. each candidate must send via email to residencia.hito@gmail.com an archived file (zip for example) which must not exceed 10Mo in size, containing :
 - a synthetic text presenting his/her artistic approach (1 page maximum in word or pdf)
 - a text explaining his/her motivation (1 page maximum in word or pdf)
 - an up-to-date CV (in word or pdf)
 - documents illustrating his artistic project : pictures, audio files, video files...

 The required documents can be written in spanish, french or english, except mentioned otherwise on the application form of the hosting place.
 
 Laureates will be nominated by an artistic committee comprised of directors or representatives of the collaborating hosting sites. The results will be published on the Pépinières website in the beginning of August
