Foreign artists’ welcome in France : RESIDART, a database about performing arts residences.
Foreign artists’ welcome in France is an essential aspect in order to promote this diversity.
After the work realised by the Centre National des Arts Plastiques on artists residences, it was aknowledged to list in every region, discipline by discipline in the performing art field (writing, theatre, tales, circus, street arts, puppetry, music, dance, song, etc.), the cultural centre welcoming foreign artists in residences, and then inform the cultural actors in France and abroad about the results.
That is why in 2004 the French Ministère de la culture et de la communication asked the Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes to realise a study among more than 400 artistic centre, and gather information in a database. This database is not exhaustive and present pieces of information that centres were agree to give. This database will be updated and could be enriched with every new centre which whished to be in it.
