Abril PADILLA
In residency at Conservatorio Superior de Música de Zaragoza, Centro para la difusíon de la música contemporanea de Madrid, in Spain.artistic project
Abril Padilla is interested in the sound and musical reality of the city and its population. Setting off to discover Zaragoza, the artist listened, located, registered, transformed, reconstructed, created or spatialized particular sounds in order to create a radiophonic piece inspired by this "listening walk". The observation of the social and urban context, such as the city's multiculturalism, the large spaces, the water problem, the public works or the influence of tradition led the artist to find ideas for generating the composition. The quadraphonic spatialization has shown itself to be absolutely essential for formulating the experience, living the city from the inside and recreating a total sound universe.
The work, entitled Lugar de antiguas vecindades, was played in concert on 31 January 2003 in the Salle Luis Galve of Zaragoza Auditorium.

residence
The meeting between the city's artists, painters and photographers, made it possible to extend this project into the creation of a visual and sound installation based on impressions of Zaragoza. Different proposals are being studied (in France and other countries) so as to allow this travelling sound and visual exhibition project to be pursued further.
