Donald ABAD
Donald Abad took part in two projects during this manifestation, Le Camping and Au Fond, in collaboration with other artists.artistic project
Au Fond was created in collaboration with Félicie d'Estienne d'Orves. It is a night video installation which uses the theme of disappearance, interaction and humour :
the public have to come within a certain distance of the installation in order to set off the video captors and see the actors behind the windows.
In Le Camping, (created by Donald Abad, Julien le Digabel and Thierry Marceau), the artists focus specifically on the impact of their disappearance on the public. This absence throws people back on to their own resources and facilitates a platform of communication and sharing. Within the framework of this project, the artists set up a real campsite on the lawn at Marly-le-roi, (symbolised by many tents, guitars, duvets, balls etc.), and the pre-sence of festive campers. As soon as the public is drawn in, curious, they run away and hide in order to observe the reactions to their subterfuge. The public thus becomes actor and performer.

artist's feedback
“My main focus was to associate my two works: Le Camping and Au Fond, conceived in a framework of interaction between the public and the production”.
“The arrival of the public on the camp site sees its occupants run away (artists, campers, performers) thus short-circuiting,neutralising the spectacle. The artists’absence creates the spectacle. Hiding behind bushes, they watch surreptitiously the consequences of their ‘trick’, the resultant ‘performance’of the public. Who watches who? Who are the real perfor-mers?It’s like a hunt, stalking the artist and the spec-tator. The set of Le Camping was in perfect harmony with the natural site, the general theme of the eve-ning and mainly with the other artistic productions.”
